Washington DC has been pegged as one of the top U.S. markets to watch this year. Washington DC is a smart investment due to the continuous growing population and there are only so many square feet in the city. The demand will continue to be higher than supply eventually and the city is seeing that the number of international investors is continuing to increase. Growth in retail businesses has followed population growth across the area, with the strongest retail growth in Loudoun and Prince William Counties, a moderate 6 percent over the past two years. In contrast, Fairfax County has lost portions of it's very large business services workforce. The average price of a luxury property in D.C. increased last year by more than 32%, with the average sales price in the top 5% of the market at $2.708 million. Washington DC has morphed into a city that is not just a government town anymore and has investors interested in investing.
